Kohala Zipline

Join us on a Hawaii Big Island zip line tour like no other. The Kohala Zipline Kohala Canopy Tour traverses a forested, stream-rich land on the northern tip of the Big Island of Hawaii, an area known since ancient times as Halawa. With soaring platforms built into majestic trees, accentuated by arching suspension bridges and progressively longer zip lines, our course promises the best of Hawaii zip line adventure tours, serene and thrilling at once.

Kohala ZiplineYour aerial trekking course explores a storied mauka (mountain) forest, which spans a river bed on the slopes of the extinct volcano, Kohala. Zipping from tree to tree, you fly past the plants of Hawaii, native kukui trees and fragrant gingers, blossoming ohia shrubs and magnificent eucalyptus. Below you stretch remnants of old taro terraces, which once formed the agricultural foundation of Hawaiian society, when King Kamehameha, the chief who united the Islands under one reign, controlled this land. You may also catch signs of the Kohala Ditch, an irrigation canal completed in 1906 to provide water for the sugar plantations that formerly surrounded Kohala’s main towns, Hawi and Kapaau.

At Kohala Zipline, your safety is our top priority, your comfort comes first. Redundant safety systems with multiple attachment points are built into all components and operations of our canopy tour. Our course’s Dual WhisperLines consist of double cables with thick, durable coating, giving you a redundancy in support while reducing cable noise. Zip line canopy guides are trained and certified to the rigorous standards of the Association for Challenge Course Technologies (ACCT), as well as in First Aid and CPR.

The forest canopy is your playground: Securely clipped into your harness, you’ll receive the best of instructions. Through smooth-stop braking you’ll actively be in control your zip line tour. We are here now and during your tour to answer all of your questions.

Your Hawaii zip line tour high up in the trees takes about three hours, ending with an exciting rappel from the final tree. But even when your body no longer soars from line to line, when our vehicle drives you back down the mountain through pastures and orchards with stunning ocean views, your mind and heart will continue to race from the course’s beauty and thrill. You have flown like the io, the Hawaiian hawk, glided over Hawaiian history, and witnessed a uniquely diverse environment. Whether you are a zip line enthusiast or a first-time outdoor adventure seeker, you’ll find in the Kohala Canopy Tour an unforgettable experience.
